Looking to slow Aldridge, Rockets start Omer Asik for Game 3

Looking for a way to limit the hot shooting of LaMarcus Aldridge, Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale is shaking up his starting lineup.

According to Chris Haynes of CSNNW, the Rockets will be sending power forward Terrence Jones to the bench and starting center Omer Asik in his place.

Jones has struggled on Aldridge and asking Dwight Howard to guard him pulls Howard away from the paint, where he's most valuable. Asik is big enough to contest Aldridge's array of post-moves and turn-around jumpers, though the Asik-Howard pairing threatens to clog the Rockets' spacing.

The pairing worked poorly together in the regular season, leading to Asik being sent to a reserve role in the first place, a move he was publicly unhappy about during the season. They ultimately played just 104 minutes together during the season, with the Rockets posting a horrendous -16.3 net rating in that time. They've played 15 minutes together in this series with a -9.4 net rating.

Still, the Rockets have to try something to slow Aldridge, who has 89 points over two games, shooting 59.3 percent from the field.
