Amar'e Stoudemire admits to Knicks not buying into Mike Woodson's system

Following the New York Knicks' disappointing season, Amar'e Stoudemire confirmed what everyone already knew.

Despite the Knicks winning their season finale against the Raptors on Wednesday, Stoudemire opened up about head coach Mike Woodson's system.

"I think next year we got to make more of a mindset of trying to master the game," Stoudemire stated via ESPN

"I mean, again, certain strategies were placed upon us with Coach Woodson. There were times when we didn't quite buy into it and as a result of that, we lost games."

Despite managing 54 wins last season, the Knicks struggled mightily this year posting a 37-45 record, and Stoudemire blames the sudden decline on the loss of veterans.

"We lost a lot of vets. And those vets were definitely key leaders for us. And it was tough for me to be the leader that I know I am because I was still on limited minutes and I wasn't playing much so it was tough for me to lead by example," Stoudemire said.

"Once I got into the the starting lineup, then my leadership qualities [resurfaced]. So, next year, we should be focused a little bit more and it'll be a much better year."

The 31-year-old struggled this season, averaging 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
