NBA names Jeff Teague and Monta Ellis Players of the Week

The NBA announced on Monday that Jeff Teague and Monta Ellis have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 3.

Teague led his Atlanta Hawks to a 3-1 record during the week, helping them to lock up the final playoff spot in the East. The fifth-year guard averaged 20.3 points and 5.8 assists, shooting 50.9 percent from the field.

For the season, Teague is averaging 16.6 points and 6.8 assists with an above-average 17.1 player efficiency rating.

Ellis also helped his team lock up a playoff spot, leading his Dallas Mavericks to wins over Utah and Phoenix, with a loss to the Spurs mixed in. Ellis scored 37 points in the playoff-clinching victory over the Suns, shooting 15-of-23 from the floor. He averaged 25.7 points and 4.7 assists for the week.

On the season, Ellis is averaging 19 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.7 steals, proving a formidable tag-team partner for Dirk Nowitzki.
