VIDEO: Corey Brewer's improbable 51-point night in 3 minutes

Brad Rempel / USA Today Sports

No, you didn't drink too much last night. Corey Brewer of the Minnesota Timberwolves did, in fact, score 51 points on Friday against the Houston Rockets.

That is...wow. Perhaps it would be even more shocking if Terrence Ross hadn't posted the league's unlikeliest 50-point game ever earlier in the year, but Brewer's night was pretty improbable itself.

To wit, ESPN Stats & Info revealed three rarities about Brewer's outburst:

  • His previous career-high of 29 is the fourth-lowest ever for a player at the time of his first 50-point game (Ross' was 26, the lowest ever).
  • Brewer's career scoring average of 9.9 is also the fourth-lowest ever for a player at the time of his first 50-point game (Ross' was 7.4, the lowest ever).
  • Brewer is the most experienced player ever to drop 50 having never before scored 30.

And from SB Nation comes a plot of all of the games in Brewer's career:

If you want to see how Brewer managed this late-season barrage, you can re-live all 51 points in just three minutes:

And just because, here are two fantastic photos of Brewer and adorable teammate Ricky Rubio.
