The New York Knicks welcomed the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday with a chance to move closer to the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, but the home team fell to the Madison Square Garden visitors, 106-100, ending an eight-game winning streak.

And all without Kyrie Irving lacing up his sneakers. The Knicks could have moved within two games of a playoff spot after the Atlanta Hawks blew a fourth-quarter lead in Toronto earlier on Sunday.

Jarrett Jack scored a season-high 31 points for the Cavs at the Garden, who snapped a four-game losing streak, and the Knicks fell apart after leading by 17 points at the half.

"Jack made some tough shots down the stretch, that was the biggest adjustment," said Knicks' Tyson Chandler. "Every time we seemed to make a run, they made a big play."

New York suffered its first home loss to Cleveland since March 4, 2011 and now heads on a five-game road trip to the West coast to meet the Lakers, Kings, Suns, Warriors and Jazz.
