J.J. Hickson grabs 15 offensive boards in 16-point, 25-rebound performance

J.J. Hickson joined an elite class of NBA rebounders on Tuesday night, becoming just the ninth player since 1985-86 to grab 15 offensive rebounds in a single game.

Hickson finished with 25 rebounds in total, helping his Denver Nuggets to a 64-41 edge on the glass against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Nuggets lost 100-95, but that doesn't make what Hickson did any less impressive.

Andray Blatche, then of the Washington Wizards, was the last player to grab 15 offensive boards in a game, back in April of 2011. Before that, you have to go all the way back to 1997-98, when Dennis Rodman and Jayson Williams both did it. Charles Barkley (2), Charles Oakley (2), Rodman (2), Larry Smith (2), Williams (2), Blatche, Terry Cummings and Kevin Willis are the only players to have managed the feat.

Hickson also added 16 points on Tuesday, though he shot 6-of-16 to get there and turned the ball over four times.

On the season, the 25-year-old NC State product is averaging 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 of those on the offensive end. His offensive rebound rate of 12.1 percent ranks 13th among qualified players in the NBA this year.
