New Wizard Andre Miller reflects on drama with Nuggets

Andre Miller is expecting to make his debut with the Washington Wizards on Saturday when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans.

Before he can move forward with his new team, however, reporters obviously had to look backward. Before being dealt at Thursday's deadline, Miller had been away from the Denver Nuggets since Jan. 1 following a very public spat with head coach Brian Shaw.

Following his first practice with his new squad on Friday, Miller reflected on the situation:

"It was just an instance where I kind of lost my cool and was a little bit unprofessional and stepped out of character. And I apologized to my teammates for what happened. That's not me. That's not what I'm about."

The Wizards are hoping that what Miller is about is providing capable minutes at the back-up point guard position, something they've been sorely lacking this season.

While Miller's numbers were modest with the Nuggets - 5.9 points and 3.3 assists in 19 minutes - he's a steadier hand than Eric Maynor, who he'll replace. The hope is surely that he'll be able to perform well enough that the team can stop taxing starter John Wall with 37 minutes a night.
