Mavericks' Calderon will play Saturday despite knee bruise

Despite leaving in the fourth quarter of Friday night's game with a right knee contusion, Dallas Mavericks point guard Jose Calderon will play on Saturday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Spaniard played just 19 minutes in the win Friday, well short of the 31.6 he's been averaging. With Devin Harris making his season debut and Shane Larkin also in the fold, the team may limit Calderon's minutes Saturday.

In 40 games this season, the 32-year-old Calderon is averaging 11.0 points and 4.8 assists. He also ranks fourth in the league with a 45.9 percent conversion rate on 3-point attempts, proving an effective valve for ball-handlers Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki to release to under pressure.
