Clippers sign Hedo Turkoglu

The point-forward from Istanbul, Turkey is back in the NBA.

Turkoglu was officially waived by the Orlando Magic at the beginning of January and immediately started working out with the Los Angeles Clippers, where coaching staff were impressed with what they saw.

A roster spot on the Clippers opened up after Maalik Wayns' 10-day contract came to an end on Thursday, and pen was put to paper at 9 a.m. on the same day.

"It feels great," said Turkoglu of the signing. "I'm really excited, a little bit nervous. It's a new chapter for me. This is my 14th year and I'm just really happy to be a part of this great organization."

At 34 years of age, Turkoglu will be joining his sixth NBA franchise. He's only played in 11 games since the start of the 2012-13 season due to a number of injuries including a broken hand and a fractured cheekbone.

Whether his recent lack of court time is a problem remains to be seen, but Turkoglu will be thrown into fire as his new team starts a seven-game road trip in New York on Friday night.
