Warriors' David Lee, Sixers' Thad Young named NBA Players of the Week

The league announced David Lee of the Golden State Warriors and Thaddeus Young of the Philadelphia 76ers are the Players of the Week on Monday.

Lee, named for the Western Conference, is averaging 22.7 points and 9.6 rebounds over Golden State's nine-game winning streak.

The nine-year veteran is the fourth player in Warriors franchise history to be honored with the Player of the Week nod three times.

Fresh off the plane in the -12 degree Wisconsin air, Lee spoke about what it means to take the Conference's top honor for the team.

Young was on fire during the Sixers' four-game winning streak, including a 3-0 week on the road. He was the Eastern Conference's best, averaging 25.0 points and 7.7 rebounds. He tied for the league lead in steals with 3.67.

“I’m thrilled for Thaddeus,” Sixers head coach Brett Brown said via the South Jersey Times. “I was just told that with Michael [Carter-Williams] and him it’s the first time that we’ve had two players of the week since 2001, so it’s a long time coming for the organization. I think it’s a statement for Thaddeus."

"Thaddeus is a gentleman first and he puts in time and he's compliant. It's just an early, small reward for a lot of effort."
