Don Nelson: Monta Ellis was a 'little selfish bastard'

Don Nelson has a few things to say about some of his former Golden State Warriors players.

The 2012 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee opened up to Chris Ballard in this week's Sports Illustrated, providing thoughts on former players David Lee, Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson and Mark Jackson.

Nelson and Ballard conducted the interview while watching clips from Nelson's tenure in Oakland.

On David Lee:

"You better go to him because can't guard anybody."

On Stephen Jackson:

"That guy'll give it to you all day. He just had some mental issues. He played his ass off for me. You just never knew when he was going to blow his mind."

On Mark Jackson:

"He's got enough bulls--- that works as a coach. You got to be a bit of a bulls---er."

On Monta Ellis:

"An incredible, gifted athlete," but "a pain in the ass when I had him. To his his credit, he's a pretty good player right now. When I had him, all he wanted to do, little selfish bastard, was to shoot every time. And never pass."
