Report: Clippers 'very close' to signing Stephen Jackson

Following an early Monday report that the Los Angeles Clippers may look to sign free agent veteran Stephen Jackson, Captain Jack took to his Instagram, more or less confirming that a deal is on the way.

Later, a USA Today report indicated that the deal is close but not complete yet:

With the Clippers missing J.J. Redick, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock, they've become painfully thin on the wings.

While Jackson was cut right before the playoffs by San Antonio last year, coach Doc Rivers appears desperate enough to roll the dice, perhaps confident he can help acclimate Jackson into the team culture.

In 55 games last season, Jackson averaged 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds, shooting just 37.3 percent from the floor and 27.1 percent on threes. Earlier in his career, he was a 3-point threat, a trait the Clippers are hoping he rediscovers.
