Lamar Odom 'not ready yet,' could make January return

For any Los Angeles Clippers fans thinking that Lamar Odom would be bolstering the bench sometime soon, pump the brakes accordingly.

According to a CBS Sports report, Odom is "not ready yet," though he's had two weeks worth of "strenuous workouts" with Rob McClanaghan, a well-respected trainer. While strenuous, those workouts have not involved any contact basketball drills.

At age 34 and after a summer that reportedly involved little basketball, it's no surprise that Odom needs to work his way back into shape. There are also likely to be concerns about how much he can contribute, given that he averaged just four points in 19.7 minutes last season, though he brings more to the table than just scoring.

The Clippers are reportedly monitoring his progress closely, with January eyed as a possible return date for the versatile forward.
