McGrady announced his retirement from the NBA on Monday, ESPN reports.

McGrady blended amazing athleticism, hops, and a shooting touch to make an immediate impact upon joining the league as an 18-year-old rookie during the 1997-98 season in Toronto. Eventually, he won scoring titles in his age-23 and 24 campaigns with the Magic, averaging a robust 32.1 points in the former. While he was able to sustain 20-plus points per contest for eight consecutive years, his offensive output fell off a cliff beginning in 2008-09, after which he was beset by injuries and a declining role in the rotation with the Rockets, Knicks, Pistons, and Hawks, culminating in a towel-waving gig with the Spurs' during their recent defeat in the Finals. For his likely Hall-of-Fame career, he posted 19.6 points (on 43.5 percent shooting), 5.6 boards, 4.4 assists, 1.2 three-pointers, 1.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 32.7 minutes per tilt.
