The NBA has fined injured Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo $25,000 for attempting to trip Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder from his seat on the bench during Game 3 of the playoff series between the two teams on Friday.

The incident occurred in the first quarter of the Celtics' 104-87 win. After Crowder drained a jumper, he glared at Rondo and appeared to say something. Rondo simultaneously raised his leg, although Crowder did not trip over it.

Rondo denied trying to take down Crowder afterwards, suggesting he was merely stretching the right leg he underwent ACL surgery on four years ago. He will appeal the fine, according to the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson.

Crowder is one of the players the Celtics got in return for Rondo when they dealt the mercurial point guard to the Dallas Mavericks in 2014. Rondo is out of the playoffs indefinitely with a fractured right thumb.
