Danilo Gallinari plans to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Denver Nuggets (worth $16 million) and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but hopes his next deal will keep him in the Mile High City.

"The relationship between me, the city, and the organization is great," Gallinari said in an interview with Blitz TV, as translated by Sportando. "This is the reason why I would love to reach an agreement to remain in Denver. I love it here. And I would love to remain with the Nuggets."

The 28-year-old Italian swingman has played in Denver since being sent there from the New York Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony trade in 2011. He averaged 18.2 points per game last season with a career-best 62.2 percent true shooting mark, while the Nuggets were 5.5 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor.

But Gallinari has also struggled with injuries, and it'll be interesting to see how that affects his next contract. He's failed to eclipse the 71-game mark since his sophomore season in 2009-10, and has missed a combined 153 contests over the past four years.
