76ers' Robert Covington: Undergoes successful surgery

Covington underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.

Analysis:

Covington had been sidelined for the 76ers' final eight regular-season contests after being diagnosed with a slight tear of the lateral meniscus in his right knee. After undergoing the procedure, Covington is expected to require four-to-six weeks of recovery time before returning to the court. He'll rest up for two weeks before resuming full weight-bearing activities in early May and ultimately easing back into on-court workouts in July. Barring a major roster overhaul in the offseason, Covington looks like a decent bet to serve as one of the team's starting wings in 2017-18.
