Report: Melo, La La split up over stress from Knicks season

Carmelo Anthony and his wife La La have separated, sources told TMZ.

The report indicates that while the couple had differences in the past, they couldn't overcome problems stemming from the drama-filled New York Knicks season that wrapped up last week.

New York's 2016-17 campaign was marred by dysfunction, including public discord between Anthony and team president Phil Jackson, constant trade rumors involving the 32-year-old All-Star, players rebelling against the triangle offense, Derrick Rose temporarily going MIA, and a legend being forcibly removed from MSG.

The Knicks were hardly any better on the court, where they fielded one of the league's worst defenses and finished with a 31-51 record, spelling the fourth straight year of playoff-less basketball in the Big Apple.

Melo and La La have been married since 2010, and have a 10-year-old son named Kiyan. It's believed La La moved out of their home in New York last week. The sources described the split as "amicable" and said there are no plans to move their child out of N.Y.

Anthony has about $54 million over two years remaining on his Knicks contract, which includes a no-trade clause.
