The NBA's youngest general manager is now out of a job.

The Orlando Magic fired Rob Hennigan, as well as assistant general manager Scott Perry, following a 29-53 season, CEO Alex Martins announced Thursday.

Matt Lloyd, an assistant general manager with Hennigan, has been appointed interim general manager. Once the Magic look to fill the position with a permanent hire, they'll consider Lloyd as a candidate.

"We appreciate Rob's efforts to rebuild the team, but feel we have not made any discernible improvement over the last few years specifically," Martins said in a statement. "It's time for different leadership in basketball operations. We certainly wish Rob and his family well.

"Matt brings solid experience and his appointment as general manager on an interim basis will allow us to seamlessly continue our preparations for the upcoming draft."

Hennigan was hired by Orlando on June 20, 2012 at age 30 after four seasons working as a scout and executive for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Magic accumulated a record of just 132-278 (.322) during his tenure, which is the second-worst in the entire Association.

Orlando's strongest campaign with Hennigan as GM came in 2015-16, when the team won 35 games and finished 11th overall in the Eastern Conference.

He made his most noteworthy move just months after his hiring, shipping off All-Star center Dwight Howard in a four-team trade that brought the Magic six players (only Nikola Vucevic remains) and five additional draft picks over a five-year span.
