The hits keep on coming for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The team announced Wednesday that forward Robert Covington will need surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. He will go under the knife in the coming days.

Covington has been sidelined since late March after an MRI revealed a slight tear of the lateral meniscus in his right knee. It's unclear if the two injuries are related.

He joins Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Jerryd Bayless as members of the Sixers who have needed surgery at one time or another this season.

The 26-year-old Covington was the 76ers' most consistent performer during yet another lost campaign. He averaged 12.9 points and 6.5 rebounds in 31.6 minutes per game while playing stellar defense as always.
