Ginobili still undecided on retirement following season

At 39 years of age and in his 15th season suiting up for the San Antonio Spurs, it's easy to see why Manu Ginobili is constantly asked about his future with the organization, and whether he's leaning toward retirement at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The Argentinian guard's response will continue to remain the same, though.

"I never said I was retiring," Ginobili said following San Antonio's shootaround Wednesday morning, according to the San Antonio Express-News' Jeff McDonald. "I get this question maybe 40 times a season now. I never said I wasn't or I was. I just wait and see."

Only Vince Carter of the Memphis Grizzlies can say he's older than Ginobili, who signed a one-year, $14-million contract with the Spurs in July.

Ginobili added that his decision will come down to how he feels mentally, as his body is holding up quite nicely through the grit and grind of the NBA season.

"I think physically, I know what I'm going to be," the two-time All-Star added. "It's not going to change much."

In 68 appearances this season, Ginobili has contributed 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, albeit on a career-low 39 percent shooting for the 61-20 Spurs. With four championship wins to his name and a slew of other accomplishments, his legacy in the basketball world has been solidified.

Ultimately, if San Antonio finds itself bounced from the playoffs earlier than expected, Ginobili won't let such a disappointment cloud his decision-making.

"I’m not going to say it’s irrelevant, but pretty close," Ginobili said. "Winning or not winning is not going to change what I decide to do in the future."
