Lakers' D'Angelo Russell: Will be active Friday vs. Kings

Russell (knee) will play in Friday's game against the Kings, Mark Media of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Analysis:

Russell was held out of Wednesday's contest against the Spurs due to soreness in his left knee, but his absence won't extend beyond that. Coach Luke Walton confirmed Russell wouldn't face any restrictions heading into the contest, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Lakers reduced his workload in the midst of the game if the team is competitive. Improving their odds in the draft lottery appears to be more of a priority than winning at this point for the Lakers, who would have to surrender their first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to the 76ers if it falls outside of the top three choices. As such, the team has plenty incentive to limit the minutes of top players such as Russell.
