Nuggets' Jameer Nelson: Out Friday vs. Pelicans

Nelson (calf) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Nick Kosmider of The Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

Nelson missed two games earlier in the week due to a right calf strain, but was able to return to action in a starting role in Wednesday's loss to the Rockets. He didn't face any limitations and was able to play 32 minutes, but he struggled to produce during his time on the floor, finishing with eight points (3-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five assists and two rebounds. Nelson's calf was still hurting a day after the game, and since he didn't make any notable improvement with his condition heading into Friday's contest, the team decided it was best to hold him out for the third time in four games. Jamal Murray is expected to start at point guard and see significant minutes, but he'll also work in an off-the-ball role while sharing the floor with backup point guard Emmanuel Mudiay.
