Hawks' Paul Millsap: Will play Thursday, out Friday for rest

Millsap (knee) will play Thursday against the Celtics, but will sit out Friday's game against the Cavaliers for rest purposes, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Analysis:

Millsap recently missed eight games due to left knee synovitis, and though he returned to action last weekend and played 26 minutes in a loss to the Nets without any apparent setbacks, the Hawks are still eager to limit the big man's workload as he works his way back. It's expected that Millsap will see an increase in playing time Thursday, but his absence Friday will allow Ersan Ilyasova to cover the bulk of the minutes at power forward for that contest.
