Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Will miss two games with sprained thumb

Thompson has been diagnosed with a sprained right thumb and will miss the Cavaliers' next two games, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports.

Analysis:

Though his "precautionary" MRI returned negative, Thompson has been diagnosed with a sprained right thumb, which will cause him to miss Wednesday's tilt against the Celtics and Friday's game against the Hawks. Though it's only two games, the Cavaliers rely on Thompson heavily, as their only other combo rebounding and shot-blocking threat at the center slot is Larry Sanders, who was signed in mid-March and has only seen the floor in the D-League. In Thompson's absence, Kevin Love could see time at center, as well as Channing Frye and Larry Sanders (who was called up in advance of Wednesday's contest) likely seeing significant minutes at the position.
