Knicks' Derrick Rose: Suffers torn meniscus, out for season

Rose was diagnosed Sunday with a torn meniscus in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Rose just can't catch a break, as the oft-injured point guard has once again suffered a knee injury that should keep him out for an extended period of time. While a torn meniscus isn't necessarily the worst case scenario, it's still a tough blow for Rose, who may see a much smaller market for his services as he heads into free agency this summer. According to Wojnarowski, Rose will have the knee scoped and is expected to be out for six-to-eight weeks, so he should be back to full strength by early June. Rose finishes his 2016-17 campaign with averages of 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists across 32.5 minutes in 64 games. Ron Baker should finish out the last week and a half of the season as the Knicks' starting point guard, a role that should afford him 30-plus-minutes.
