Mavericks' Wesley Matthews: Drops seven dimes in loss Friday

Matthews posted 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt), seven assists, three rebounds and one blocked shot over 35 minutes in Friday's 99-90 loss to the Grizzlies.

Analysis:

Along with a team-leading seven assists, Matthews found his stroke again, going 50 percent from the floor for a second consecutive game. Over the five games prior to that, he was shooting a terrible 26.7 percent. It's been a bad year in that category for Matthews, as his season average of 39.3 percent is the second-worst result in his eight-year career. Matthews' usage has remained high in March (31.6 minutes per game over 13 contests), so it's difficult to ignore his potential to produce decent numbers, but he's a risky prospect to start in leagues that are playing their postseason matchups. He could be useful as a DFS tournament option, however.
