Durant's progress makes return before playoffs a 'possibility'

USA Today Sports

Good news for Golden State Warriors fans: Kevin Durant is nearing a return.

According to the release, Durant is progressing "as well as could be expected" and is advancing to non-contact practice drills. He will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days and a return in the regular season "remains a possibility."

Durant suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain and a tibial bone bruise in the Warriors' lone trip to his hometown of Washington, D.C. Warriors center Zaza Pachulia fell backwards onto Durant's legs which forced him off the floor for the subsequent month.

The Warriors struggled initially to replace Durant, but the 73-win core from last year quickly righted the ship with an eight-game win streak to maintain their league-topping record.

Durant is averaging 25.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks while shooting a career-high 53.7 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep.
