Lakers' D'Angelo Russell: Turns in 28-9-6 stat line in Tuesday's loss

Russell posted 28 points (10-21 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine assists, six rebounds and one block across 40 minutes in a 119-108 loss to the Wizards on Tuesday.

Analysis:

The Lakers aren't overly concerned about wins and losses at this stage of the season, so Russell's strong play of late has to be the more encouraging takeaway for the rebuilding franchise. He's been outstanding since reentering the starting lineup at shooting guard over the last five games, averaging 24.6 points (on 48.8% shooting from the field), 5.6 assists, 3.4 three-pointers, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 38.0 minutes. It appears as though he may be a more natural fit in an off-the-ball role than as a point guard, and while that's normally bad news for a player's fantasy value, Russell might prove to be the exception.
