Watch: Barkley claims he got contact high from Nirvana at 'SNL'

Charles Barkley shared some interesting marijuana-related stories during his sit-down with "The Dan Patrick Show" on Thursday, including how the band Nirvana gave him a contact high.

The date was Sept. 25, 1993 - roughly six months before Kurt Cobain died of an apparent suicide - and Barkley was hosting an episode of "Saturday Night Live" that featured Nirvana as a musical guest.

"If you've ever been to Saturday Night Live, the dressing rooms are like less than five, probably three feet apart. Like, as far as you can open your arms, that's how close the dressing rooms are," Barkley explained. "And I didn't know anything about Nirvana. First of all, they were fantastic - all the guys were nice, and I think Courtney (Love) was there also.

"I had people coming in and out, my friends, so I kept my dressing room open. Every time those guys from Nirvana opened their door, I got like a contact high. It was like one of those big mushroom clouds came, like I was scared to go to the airport because I didn't want to ... do not go near the airport."

Barkley admitted he's smoked pot between three and five times in his lifetime, but wasn't particularly fond of it because "all I wanted was potato chips."
