Matt Barnes sick of never-ending Derek Fisher chants

It's been more than a year since Matt Barnes fought Derek Fisher, but people aren't letting him live it down.

Now a member of the Golden State Warriors, Barnes is still reminded of when he got into a physical confrontation in October 2015 with the then-New York Knicks coach over his ex-wife, Gloria Govan.

"Everywhere I go I'm still getting Derek Fisher chants," the 6-foot-7 forward told Sporting News' Nubyjas Wilborn. "I'm sick of that s---. I can hear that from the stands. But if I say anything to a fan, I'm catching a fine. So I do my best to tune it out."

Barnes, who played for the Sacramento Kings at the time, received a two-game suspension for his part in the quarrel, which was immortalized in Kanye West's song "30 Hours." All of that just added to his reputation as a bad egg, which he struggles with.

"It's tough," the 37-year-old admitted. "I'm a target on and off the court. I've done some things I regret. But being a target is rough. Everything I do is major news. Everybody is looking for me to fail."

The journeyman has been on nine different teams, three of which he's had multiple stints with, over 14 NBA seasons. Still without a title to his name, Barnes doesn't plan on wasting his current opportunity to do something special with the top-seeded Warriors, who signed him as insurance after Kevin Durant suffered a knee injury.

"I am not going to mess up this chance," he said. "There's a lot of BS off the court. I deal with off the court (drama) that comes with the territory. It still hurts, but I also know that it's part of the game."

Barnes is averaging 5.8 points, five boards, and 2.5 dimes in 20 minutes per outing in his second run with the Dubs.
