Lakers' David Nwaba: Signs two-year contract Tuesday

Nwaba agreed to a two-year contract with the Lakers on Tuesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports. The deal includes a team option for the 2017-18.

Analysis:

With Nwaba's second 10-day contract with the Lakers set to expire, the team decided to commit to him for the rest of the season, while also holding the right to retain him for the upcoming campaign. The undrafted rookie was recently ushered out of the starting lineup to make room for D'Angelo Russell at shooting guard, but Nwaba should still have a spot in the rotation over the final three weeks of the season as coach Luke Walton looks to find time for younger players. Nwaba is averaging only 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game, but he brings a defensive presence to the backcourt that the team desperately needs.
