76ers' Jahlil Okafor: Won't be shut down for season

The 76ers have no plans to shut down Okafor (knee) for the rest of the season and are considering him day-to-day ahead of Wednesday's game against the Thunder, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis:

Okafor's sore right knee resulted in him missing his seventh game of the season Monday against the Magic, but despite the recurring nature of the injury, the 76ers don't believe that he'll need more than the occasional rest to address the issue. The second-year big man may need to turn in a full participation in morning shootaround Wednesday in order to receive clearance to play, but in the event Okafor is held out, coach Brett Brown would lean on Richaun Holmes and Shawn Long as his main centers. Holmes picked up the start Monday and saw the bulk of the court time, putting up 24 points (11-19 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 42 minutes.
