Nets' Jeremy Lin: Ankle injury not viewed as serious

Lin (ankle), who is listed as doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Pistons, is considered day-to-day and isn't expected to miss much time, ESPN.com's Ohm Youngmisuk reports. "I'm encouraged," Lin said. "It was just an ankle tweak thing and not like a hamstring."

Analysis:

Lin sprained the ankle in Sunday's loss to the Mavericks and didn't return to the contest, but fortunately, it seems he's avoided a serious injury. The 29-year-old has been plagued by hamstring issues on multiple occasions this season and has been limited to 25 appearances, but the ankle issue isn't related and doesn't seem to be nearly as severe. Considering that the Nets aren't playing for a playoff spot at this point in the season, it wouldn't be surprising if the team acted conservatively with Lin and held him out Tuesday, and possibly a few additional contests. Spencer Dinwiddie is expected to start at point guard Tuesday in place of Lin after providing 18 points and seven dimes off the bench Sunday.
