Timberwolves' Omri Casspi: Officially joins Timberwolves

Casspi officially signed Monday with the Timberwolves, Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

The 28-year-old began the season with the Kings before being shipped to the Pelicans as part of the DeMarcus Cousins deal. He fractured his right thumb in his Pelicans debut, prompting the team to waive him a few days later. With the thumb now fully healed, Casspi will provide valuable floor spacing for a Timberwolves team starved for depth up front. While Casspi may need a couple practices to get familiar with his new team, he should eventually step in as one of the top forwards off the bench after Nemanja Bjelica (foot) was ruled out for the season. Until the team confirms his availability, consider Casspi questionable to play Tuesday against the Spurs.
