Pelicans' DeMarcus Cousins: Gets technical foul rescinded

Cousins had the technical foul he was assessed in Wednesday's loss to the Heat rescinded by the league office.

Analysis:

Had the technical foul counted, it would have been Cousins' 19th of the season, which would have put him one technical shy of triggering an automatic one-game suspension. The league's decision fortunately gives the moody big man a little more wiggle room going forward, though the Pelicans would certainly prefer him to do a better job of keeping his emotions in check. Despite being the most high-profile player moved during the trade deadline, Cousins' addition hasn't helped the Pelicans make up ground in the playoff race, but the team doesn't appear inclined to ease up on the 26-year-old's workload just yet. He should be available to play as many minutes as needed Friday in what should be an up-tempo affair against the Rockets.
