76ers' Joel Embiid: Expected to undergo minor knee surgery

Embiid (knee) is expected to require surgery to repair his partially torn left meniscus, Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

Analysis:

Embiid visited a specialist in Los Angeles last week to examine the knee and will receive an additional opinion in San Diego on Friday, but it appears that the prevailing notion is that the center will need a surgical procedure to address the knee injury rather than simple rest and rehab. The 76ers have already ruled Embiid out for the season, and while any potential procedure isn't expected to keep him sidelined for the start of the 2017-18 campaign, it would likely result in a longer recovery timetable than the club may have initially hoped. Those who own Embiid in keeper leagues or are considering drafting him in single-season leagues next season should track his health status vigilantly throughout the summer.
