Report: NBA rescinds Cousins' latest tech

Chuck Cook / USA TODAY Sports

DeMarcus Cousins can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being.

The NBA has rescinded the technical foul assessed to the New Orleans Pelicans big man in Wednesday's loss to the Miami Heat, league sources told ESPN's Justin Verrier. Cousins' season total now sits at 18, meaning he's two techs away from receiving another automatic suspension.

Cousins didn't appear too concerned after receiving what appeared to be his 19th tech of the season, telling reporters he expected to have it rescinded after speaking with referee Tony Brothers at halftime.

''He plans on rescinding it,'' Cousins told John Reid of NOLA.com. ''I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. I don't really know what I did wrong and we agreed on that.''

The 26-year-old has already been suspended twice this season after receiving his 16th and 18th technical fouls.

Cousins is averaging 26.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks on 45.1 percent shooting for the campaign.
