Harden collects 17th triple-double in sloppy fashion

USA Today Sports

James Harden's sloppy play had little effect on the final outcome of Wednesday's contest against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Houston Rockets blew out Los Angeles despite Harden's nine turnovers, cruising to a 139-100 victory. The All-NBA point guard finished with 18 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds for his 17th triple-double of the season.

It isn't the first time this season that Harden recorded a high number of turnovers during a triple-double performance, as he technically recorded a quadruple-double in January's win over the Toronto Raptors.

While Harden's increased usage has led to a spike in his counting stats, it's also boosted his turnover total - the 27-year-old has already broken the record for turnovers in a single season.

Despite his flaws, Harden still ranks as one of the top MVP candidates, carrying the Rockets to one of the best records in the West this season.
