Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki: Scores 17 in loss VS. Raptors

Nowitzki recorded 17 points (7-16 FG, 3-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 29 minutes in Monday's 100-78 loss to the Raptors.

Analysis:

Nowitzki did a little bit of everything stat-wise Monday, but it wasn't enough to prevent a drubbing by the Raptors as Dallas fell three games out of the eight-seed in the Western Conference. Nowitzki has turned back the clock over this recent stretch averaging 19.2 points on 54.2 percent from the field and 47.8 from three-point range over his last five. He has also stepped up his rebounding over that span, averaging an even nine boards per game. Without Nerlens Noel (knee) the last three games and Wesley Matthews (calf) missing the second half of Monday's game more work has fallen onto the Nowitzki's plate. Help should be on the way with Noel expected to return to the lineup soon, but there is no word yet on the extent of Matthews' injury. If Matthews misses extended time Nowitzki could be in line to shoulder more of the Mavs' scoring load in his absence.
