Kings' Ty Lawson: Remainer of season in question

Lawson will report to court March 22 for a probation violation hearing, which could result in jail time for the 29-year-old, Sports Illustrated's Michael McCann reports.

Analysis:

After a string of off-court incidents resulted in the Nuggets cutting ties with Lawson ahead of last season, the point guard had unproductive runs with the Rockets and Pacers in 2015-16 before signing a one-year deal with the Kings this past summer. He's been an effective member of the team's second unit and occasional starter for the Kings this season, but according to a recent report from The Denver Post, Lawson may have violated the terms of his probation stemming from a 2015 DUI arrest. The Denver Post reported that Lawson has failed three alcohol tests since last September and failed to complete his required 48 hours of community service, though his court appearance will ultimately determine the veracity of those claims. Lawson isn't expected to miss any time with the Kings until his hearing takes place, but if the court determines that Lawson violated his probation, his availability for the final three weeks of the season could be in jeopardy.
