Six years is a long time in the NBA, but if Carmelo Anthony has his way, that's at least how long he wants to keep playing.

"I would love to get 20 (seasons) in," Anthony said, according to the Daily News' Frank Isola. "I would love six, seven ... I could do 20. I think I do a great job of taking care of my body. I'm going to continue doing that. Lord willing, no injuries, no severe injuries, I could see myself going for 20."

Anthony is currently in his 14th season, and is less than 100 points away from 24,000 for his career. He currently ranks 25th all-time in points. Should he make it to two decades in the NBA, he should be able to crack 30,000, as Dirk Nowitzki did on Tuesday night.

He also understands that might require lightening the load as he ages, similar to what the Dallas Mavericks have done by design with Nowitzki in recently seasons.

"Of course," Anthony acknowledged. "With Dirk's situation, his last year, two years, I mean he's just out there playing, giving what he can give. At that point you're going to know what you can do and what you can't do and you're not going to try to do what you can't do at that point."

Of course, whether that would happen with the New York Knicks or not is something that remains to be seen. Anthony's close friend LeBron James, who entered the NBA in the same 2003 draft, is currently eighth all-time in points.
