Kings' Rudy Gay: Rehab going as planned

Gay (Achilles) said he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his rehab and remains on track to be ready for the start of NBA training camps in the fall, Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports.

Analysis:

Gay is just over a month removed from the season-ending Achilles procedure, so while the fact that he's progressing as expected is encouraging, it's still very early in the rehab process. After previously indicating prior to the start of the season that he would decline his player option for 2017-18 and become a free agent in July, Gay acknowledged that the serious injury will force him to reevaluate the matter. He'll likely hold off on a decision on that front until after the Kings' season draws to a close in mid-April.
