Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Scheduled for reevaluation Monday

Smith (hand) is slated for a reevaluation Monday, ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin reports.

Analysis:

Smith, who remains sidelined following surgery on his right thumb, made waves over the weekend when he got into a verbal confrontation with the Heat's Rodney McGruder and Dion Waiters following the Cavs' loss to Miami on Saturday, but he's not expected to face any disciplinary action from the league. That 31-year-old has now missed 34 games and counting since suffering the injury, but he's beginning to draw closer to his initial 12-to-16-week recovery timetable. Once doctors examine how well Smith's thumb has healed Monday, an update on a potential return date for the shooting guard could be issued, but at this point, the Cavaliers don't seem to be counting on having him back until late March or early April.
