Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Out Sunday with sore right knee

Allen is dealing with a sore left knee and won't be available Sunday against the Hawks, Nate Taylor of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis:

Allen's absence may force coach Nate McMillan to lean a little more heavily on starting power forward Thaddeus Young than desired, as the forward has shown limited effectiveness since returning from a sprained left wrist following the All-Star break. Though Allen previously missed three games prior to the break while recovering from a sore right knee, it's now the other knee that is bothering him. It remains unclear if he's dealing with a significant issue or if McMillan just wanted to give Allen a maintenance day with the Pacers opening up a back-to-back set Sunday that concludes with a road matchup with the Hornets on Monday.
