Hawks' Jose Calderon: Unlikely to make team debut Sunday

Calderon will be in uniform for Sunday's game against the Pacers, but isn't expected to play outside of an emergency situation, Chris Vivalmore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis:

Mike Dunleavy (ankle) and Ryan Kelly (coach's decision) will be the Hawks' two inactives, but since Calderon hasn't had an opportunity to practice with his new team after being claimed off waivers Saturday, it's likely that Atlanta will go with Dennis Schroder and Malcolm Delaney as their primary point guards. Even once he has a chance to gain some familiarity with his new team, Calderon may not be able to displace Delaney as Schroder's top backup, potentially leaving him outside of the rotation most games. It appears the 35-year-old may only act as an insurance option at point guard in the event of an injury to either Schroder or Delaney.
