Newly signed Deron Williams will make his Cleveland Cavaliers debut Wednesday in Boston against the Celtics, and the veteran point guard is understandably pleased at landing with a title contender.

"Excited," Williams said, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "I'm ready to get out there and play with these guys."

Williams will see floor time behind Kyrie Irving, a season-long roster hole big enough for the Cavs that LeBron James began openly pleading for playmaking help in mid-January.

While he's no longer the All-Star-caliber player he was a half-dozen years ago, Williams is still more than solid - averaging 13.7 points and 6.2 assists the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks.

"Deron is going to have to run the offense and get us into some of our sets and pick up things quickly, which I know he can," Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. "So, just having him here just to sustain leads when we get leads and having that veteran leadership on the floor is going to be big for us."

With the addition of veteran center Andrew Bogut also expected to be official by the weekend, the Cavs will have three of the top eight players selected in the 2005 NBA Draft coming off their bench - Bogut, Williams, and Channing Frye.
