The reigning and defending NBA champion is set to bolster its bench with a 7-foot rim protector in former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut.

The 32-year-old veteran has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers this weekend once he clears waivers Wednesday night, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Bogut "strongly considered" joining the Houston Rockets or Boston Celtics, but ultimately reached his final decision to take his talents to Cleveland on Tuesday night, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The Cavaliers - who now need to clear a roster spot - also recently signed point guard Deron Williams, a former teammate of Bogut's with the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas dealt Bogut to the Philadelphia 76ers prior to the trade deadline in what was essentially a salary dump.

Bogut was waived by the Sixers four days later.

Dealing with injuries for the better part of the 2016-17 campaign, Bogut made just 26 appearances (21 starts) for Dallas after being dealt by the Golden State Warriors last summer. He averaged three points, 8.3 rebounds, and a block in 22.4 minutes per game during that span.
