The NBA's worst-kept secret became official on Monday, as the Cleveland Cavaliers announced the signing of veteran point guard Deron Williams after the former All-Star was waived by the Dallas Mavericks last week.

"At the end of the day I felt like this was the best team for me," Williams told reporters Monday. "I felt like I would have a significant role here."

Williams addresses Cleveland's need for an additional playmaker - something LeBron James has been vocal about this season, as the Cavs look to defend their 2016 championship.

While Williams is no longer the All-NBA threat he once was, the 32-year-old is still averaging 13.1 points, 6.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds this season, while remaining one of the league's premier pick-and-roll artists.
