Hawks' Tim Hardaway: Will return to bench Monday

Hardaway will come off the bench in Monday's game against the Celtics, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis:

Hardaway had been serving as the team's starting shooting guard while Thabo Sefolosha was out for nine games with a groin injury, and coach Mike Budenholzer initially planned to keep Hardaway in that role for the first several games out of the All-Star break even though Sefolosha is now healthy. It took only two games for Budenholzer to determine that Sefolosha was a better fit for the top unit, but don't expect Hardaway to sacrifice much playing time with the move to the bench. Hardaway is averaging 18.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 three-pointers in 31.8 minutes per game in February, and will continue to provide the Hawks with a needed scoring lift.
